The rules

  • Recent colour photo on a white background.
  • Paper form: affix two photos; sign or put your left thumb impression across the left photo so part is on the photo and part on the form.
  • Do not staple or clip the photos.
  • Scanned upload: colour JPEG at 200 dpi; photo up to 20 KB, signature up to 10 KB.

Good to know

  • Form 93 (from 1 April 2026) asks for a 4.5 × 3.5 cm printed photo, but Protean's upload table still says 3.5 × 2.5 cm. The two official sources disagree; VisaSize makes the print at 35 × 45 mm and the upload at 3.5 × 2.5 cm (197 × 276 px at 200 dpi).
  • The upload file meets the stricter of the two portals on every point: Protean's 20 KB photo and 10 KB signature (UTIITSL allows 30 KB and 60 KB), JPEG only (UTIITSL also takes PNG), at Protean's 3.5 × 2.5 cm and 200 dpi. One file works on both.
  • Forms 49A and 49AA were replaced by Forms 93 and 95 from 1 April 2026.
  • No pixel size is published by either portal; the pixel sizes are worked out from Protean's centimetres at 200 dpi.
